Description
Bismuth telluride is a semiconductor material with good conductivity, but poor thermal conductivity. It is mainly used for semiconductors, electronic refrigeration and power generation. Bismuth telluride and its solid solution are the earliest and most mature thermoelectric materials studied.
Bismuth telluride materials can be processed into various common devices. The commonly used preparation methods include: zone melting, Bridgeman, single crystal pulling, plasma activated sintering and hot pressing sintering. Zone melting, Bridgeman and single crystal pulling are often used to prepare single crystal materials.
Bismuth telluride reacts with water or strong oxidant to produce slight explosion, and reacts with water or moisture to release toxic and flammable gases; Toxic tellurium oxide fumes due to thermal decomposition.
