Germanium oxide, the symbol is GeO2, atomic weight is 104.59, which has insoluble and soluble variant, the former is colorless tetragonal prism, the melting point is 1086±5℃, density is 6.23g/cm³, refractive index is 1.00, not soluble in the water and acid, alkali, but melted in the ten times NAOH under 550℃, the latter is colorless hexagonal rhombohedral crystal, the melting point is 1115±4℃, density is 4.23g/cm³, refractive index is 1.695, easily soluble in the water and acid and alkali. The two transform into each other under the temperature of 1033℃ but very slowly. And one more colorless colorless transparent glass is made by the melted Germanium oxide with shock chilling. Hexagonal crystal and glass form can dissolve with hydrochloric acid intogermanium tetrachloride
