Description
The chemical formula of tellurium dioxide is TeO2. Molecular weight 159.60. Colorless crystal, melting point 732.6 ℃. There are two crystal forms: it is made from nitric acid solution and belongs to the tetragonal crystal system, similar to octahedron. Relative density 5.67 (15 ℃). Heating turns yellow, melting into a dark yellow liquid, cooling to obtain needle shaped crystals (orthorhombic system), with a relative density of 5.91 (0 ℃). Hardly soluble in water. It is easily soluble in concentrated strong acid to form adducts and salts; It is also easily soluble in concentrated caustic solution to form tellurite. Insoluble in ammonia water. Tellurium is obtained by burning tellurium in oxygen or by reacting tellurium with cold concentrated nitric acid and evaporating the reaction liquid.
Tellurium dioxide is obtained by reacting the elemental tellurium powder with nitric acid, heating until the tellurium powder completely reacts until nitrogen oxide is stopped, evaporative cooling and crystallization to obtain basic tellurium nitrate te2o3 (OH) No3, and heating and decomposing this product at 400 ~ 430 ℃.
Tellurium dioxide is mainly used as electronic component materials and preservatives, and is also used for bacterial testing in vaccine.
