Description
Gallium is a soft silvery metal and is a brittle solid at low temperature. It will melt into liquid when room temperature exceeds 29.8 °C(85.57 °F). Gallium does not dissolve in water, soluble in acid, alkali, react with sulfur, selenium, tellurium, phosphorus, arsenic and antimony at high temperature. Gallium can form alloy with many kinds of metal and can be used with some non metal forming compounds.
Used in the production of compound semiconductor materials, superconducting materials, fast neutron reactor structural materials etc., as well as additives for permanent magnetic materials.
