Description

Indium is a silver gray, extremely soft, fusible metal. Melting point 156.61 ℃. Boiling point: 2060 ℃. Relative density d7.30. Liquid indium can infiltrate the glass, and will adhere to the contacted surface, leaving black marks. Primary indium is mainly extracted from raw ore, and is also the main source of indium smelting at present. The most common mineral sources are dark sphalerite (ZnS), anhydrite and Lithium Montmorillonite (FeS:ZnS). Indium is also found in tin ore, siderite, manganese and tungsten ore. Gallium is usually related to indium in zinc and tin ores. Many sulfide ores of copper, iron, lead, cobalt and bismuth contain small amounts of indium.

High purity indium is mainly used for compound semiconductors, high-purity alloys and dopants of semiconductor materials.
