Description
Selenium, element symbol Se, atomic number 34 in the periodic table, VIA group of non-metallic elements. Density is 4.809g/cm³, melting point 221 ℃, boiling point 685 ℃. Selenium is a solid with a single gray metallic luster, brittle, toxic, conductive, and its conductivity changes sharply with the intensity of light. Selenium is an essential trace mineral nutrient for human body, but excessive intake can be harmful to human body. The amount of selenium in the earth's crust is only 0.05 ppm, and its distribution is scattered and the annual supply is limited. Selenium has a wide range of uses in electronics, glass, metallurgy, chemicals, healthcare, agriculture and other fields.
