Description
Selenium, element symbol Se, atomic number 34 in the periodic table, VIA group of non-metallic elements. Density is 4.809g/cm³, melting point 221 ℃, boiling point 685 ℃. Selenium is a solid with a single gray metallic luster, brittle, toxic, conductive, and its conductivity changes sharply with the intensity of light.
6N 99.9999% Selenium is mainly used for advanced optical and electronics applications. High purity selenium pieces, powder, and other forms can serve as precursor materials for the MBE growth of semiconductor crystals such as cadmium selenide (CdSe), lead selenide (PbSe), zinc selenide (ZnSe), copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS), and other selenides. These materials are used primarily in thin film solar cells and LEDs/OLEDs, particularly as quantum dots (QDs). American Elements quantum dot products include CdSe, PbSe, CdSe/ZnS, and others. Ultra high purity selenium is also used as an ingredient in some health supplements and beauty products. We also manufacture selenium in other purities and forms (see selenium metal).
