Description
Tellurium (Te), semimetallic chemical element in the oxygen group (Group 16 [VIa] of the periodic table), closely allied with the element selenium in chemical and physical properties. Tellurium is a silvery white element with properties intermediate between those of metals and nonmetals; it makes up approximately one part per billion of Earth's crust.
(4N) 99.99% tellurium metal is often used as an additive to steel and it is often alloyed to aluminum, copper, lead or tin. Tellurium is added to lead to improve its durability, strength and resistance to corrosion. Besides,it is also used for semiconductor Thermo-electric coolers according to the Peltier effect, to produce Thermal Analysis Cups for Metallurgical Industry, and vulcanizing agent for Rubber, etc.
